What is a CIF grant?

CIF grants are awards for projects to develop innovative new technologies designed to benefit the environment and address serious environmental problems. These include new technologies for the capture and disposal of carbon pollution and the recovery of methane and other hydrocarbons, and innovative new approaches to recycling and reuse of energy.

Why should I apply?

One of CIF’s core objectives is to help ensure the environment benefits from the continued exploitation of available energy resources. The application of a new technology can take many forms when considering the possible contribution of a non-fossil resources management product. This process, however, takes time. Therefore and for this specific application, it is important that the applicant demonstrate a clear commitment and long-term approach to develop and implement a successful CIF project. In essence, a project should demonstrate both the technical capability and ability to successfully apply a commercially viable carbon capture technology to a specific location. The CIF North American Development and Grant Office seeks to ensure the availability of funding within several years, with a long term commitment to successful project implementation and operation.
