Who qualifies for a boiler grant?

The program is open to any person residing in Oregon as a refugee under section 212(o)(3) of the Immigration and Nationality Act who is seeking entry to the United States and is determined as being ineligible to be admitted under that subsection;

who is determined as being ineligible to be admitted under that subsection; or

who is determined as being ineligible under subsection (a)(2)(B) of section 212(o)(3).

Who receives the grant?

The grant is available to any refugee who is determined as qualifying under any of the following circumstances: (1) the applicant has a bona fide connection to the United States that is not related to a person or entity in the United States; or (2) the applicant presents a compelling case for admission.

Are there eligibility requirements?

Entries must be submitted by March 25, 2018. Entries must include:

– Residence/Residence Card

– Proof of identity

– Residence permit – if you are under 21, a photo identification that states the address is in the state where you live;

– Social Security Number

– Birth certificate

– Other documents proving proof of age such as an Employment Authorization Card

Are there requirements for an adult?

Yes, children and adults ages 18 to 24 have to be provided with the same information required for the youth program. Also, the adult applicant must produce a Social Security card.

Are there requirements for families?

Yes, families must have a parent or guardian present.

How quickly does the grant fill?

Each year, in addition to the intake intake, an additional 12,000 refugees are brought into the U.S. by the State Department to assess eligibility into the program. Therefore, the number of refugees each year is much higher.

Who does the money go to?

The grant is the responsibility of the State Department. There is no funding provided for additional processing staff in the Office of Refugee Resettlement, only to help refugees get into the country and meet the needs of the refugees.

How much does it cost?

There does not have to be a set amount paid to all the organizations that operate the refugee resettlement program for the grant to be effective.
