Yes. The free web-based Piano Tutor has a huge range of free instruments and is also pretty good. Some of my colleagues also put together a huge free Piano Tutor library that includes many popular instruments. As for paid instruments, you can find a ton of them on the websites below. The one I prefer over others is a free iOS library by the name of PianoFree. As you can imagine, this is a fantastic selection and comes from a reputable source.
What do I need to do to buy an instrument?
If you have a decent internet connection you’ll be able to get a bunch of samples for free, and then you can pick the right one for your needs. The samples are really useful to get an idea of what works for you, as well as giving you hints and tips on how to make your own better ones. Some of the examples below are not really full-featured and just allow you to type in some basic information. For example if you don’t know a great way of adding chord tones to a melody, you can type a couple of those numbers and see how they sound.
How do I make a free piano sound great for my own use?
If you’ve read this far, you’ve probably thought: ‘wow, a free piano can sound amazing for my music’. Now, you may find some free music app that will do the same as this piano, but be careful. To the most likely extent possible, you’re going to have to make a music score and learn some music theory first, just to be safe. So, how do you get yourself over the curve and start writing music for it? I’ll give some pointers on the next section.
