$7.3 billion? $8.2 billion? More than $10 billion?
$10 billion is a pretty big number. It seems like a lot. It looks like a heck of lot of money to spend on a video that seems so over the top. After all …
(Note: I’ve added dollar amounts below.)
But before we get to a bunch of numbers, here are six reasons why this video isn’t going to cost a lot of money.
1. There’s just no getting around the fact that Michael Jackson’s life and death are not on the same scale.
Michael Jackson killed himself after he was arrested for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in 1983. His death was, in and of itself, a tragedy and a public tragedy. Michael Jackson, then 24, became just another name in a string of celebrities who, once they die, become just another name in their respective industries.
Michael Jackson’s death was, in itself, a tragedy and a public tragedy.
Even the autopsy report made note of this. The report revealed “a substantial number of injuries on the deceased,” which included “a fractured skull, broken ribs, severe bruising of his liver, spleen, kidneys, rectum and intestine, and deep puncture wounds leading to subcutaneous vesicles of his bladder, and several perforations” to his bladder and urethra. All of this, it should be noted, occurred without Jackson’s knowledge or consent.
So, you’ve lost your best friend, and you know just who your best friend is. And you’ve lost him, but not because of whatever it is that left him dead — but rather because of an unfortunate turn of events that you had no control over.
This tragedy isn’t about you. It shouldn’t be about you because you can’t choose where this tragedy leads.
And it isn’t about who you are. It shouldn’t be about what you’ve accomplished. It shouldn’t be about what you stand for because when someone, for whatever reason, chooses to take the lives of their family members, it shouldn’t be about your ideals, it should be about God’s and God’s standards, and for that matter, the standards of the society that you have lived.
Michael Jackson died at a very young age. Like that of all of his friends and family, he died a little more than two decades ago. Even if that’s all that mattered,
