It’s a question that will be asked of you in the future. What would you recommend to others?
Have you heard anything you enjoy?
Have you ever met anyone who impressed you the way this one did?
Have you ever given up on something that you put your hopes on?
If you could start an entire musical genre, which would you choose?
We know what you might be thinking here. Well that’s a good question.
The fact is, you’ll want to think very, very carefully about what you would choose. There’s no right or wrong answer; it all depends on your own personal approach. I can tell you that some of the things that I really enjoyed in my musical career were things like improvisation, or musical theatre, classical, or jazz.
I’ll be the first to admit, jazz didn’t do it for me at all.
But for many others — I am talking about you and I’m guessing every one of the other young adults out there — it is what gave them a musical voice. What you may be experiencing today is the beginning of something you think you’ll be involved with in the future.
I’d hate to say that it was hard to have music lessons, but you certainly have to be on your best behaviour when doing those things.
In the same vein, we know that having great music doesn’t guarantee much in the way of success. At least we don’t have to guess how the rest of us are going to react to a big musical or even a little one when we hear it first hand.
If you enjoy your playing and you try to put in the work to improve your craft, I would love to hear it. It doesn’t have to be fancy or professional, it doesn’t have to be a gig either.
It can really be as low key as you want it to be — if you’re not afraid to fail.
For example — how about this guitar riff? How about this one?
If you really try to practice it in that manner, you’ll find that it just sounds better than you remember it being.
In other words, it sounds like the way they do with their guitar solos.
I’ll let you in on a little secret about guitar students: the same way they play this riff in class — in their own room — their solos sound the way they always do.
How good is your technique
