I don’t know about you, but in a way I am now too. I am just very fortunate. I am a very happy, fortunate person. I think I can do anything I will do for any given person. But I am a very lucky person for being involved with people and to get that kind of experience. And I am certainly lucky I got a chance to start at the top. You have to have a lot of luck.
On Sunday Night football, I watched an offensive lineman who is not a fan of me try to defend the team’s most vocal fan.
Here is what he said:
He called us selfish and told us to stop talking. And he’s one dude. He can go fuck himself.
That dude is probably a lot smarter and more talented than I am. I’m not going to stop talking about us. I mean, we win all the games, he’s just saying that because he doesn’t want to listen to my words.
I know that if I keep talking about him, at least half of people in Cleveland that aren’t in football will stop watching football and my Twitter will be flooded with comments and suggestions for ways to better connect with the team.
I’m sorry, but I’m the fan that everyone is talking about. I’m the guy that has been with them all my life and who has been the subject of plenty of vitriol from the opposing fans lately.
That doesn’t mean I’m going to stop. I’m going to talk about these kids as long as the other fans of the opposing team allow those kids to talk about them.
Maybe this is a sign that the teams are becoming less and less competitive. Maybe the players on the other team think they are playing under new leadership. Maybe the fans of the teams are becoming frustrated at the way this team is being led.
Or maybe this is just me being selfish and ungrateful for our opportunities. I’m not sure. It seems very clear to me that the “I’ll do whatever it takes” attitude seems to only come from the players and from people that haven’t actually been on the team and are therefore not privy to the true thinking.
Maybe the players are the ones that do care. Maybe they aren’t going to let their team, nor this city, fall by the wayside. These kids have given so much. They are great
