When you hear the word ‘mentalism’, it suggests that mental activity is governed by mental processes on the basis of some metaphysical theory that makes this activity a part of some underlying principle of nature which determines our thinking (and, presumably, our being). But it turns out that mentalism doesn’t mean that mental activity is governed by metaphysical principles! That’s the whole point of mentalism!
