The rubber material that’s used in pencils is an “inverted graphite.” Because in graphite, all of the atoms are stacked on top of one another, they have a lot of flexibility. But in the rubber material, all of the atoms are stacked underneath each other and their molecules form a rigid structure.

Why do notebooks need more pages than textbooks?

Teaching in math was a bit of a challenge in high school. Many textbooks were too long and many students were too scared to read. Many teachers felt they had to cram too much information into their lessons, and as a result not enough students learned.

The Solution: Add More Pages

A few years ago, I helped launch the “Make Math Matter” initiative, which aims to teach kids mathematics by making math much easier for them. Here are some tips to help kids understand why math is important:

Know how to count using your fingers, and how to do it faster than many adults: If you have trouble counting with your fingers, try to count by your toes.

If you have trouble counting with your fingers, try to count by your toes. Learn how to find the length of any given line using the formula:

We find the following:

The number of ways this can be done is two.

If you need help with the method, you can check out the Math Works YouTube video “How to Find the Length of a Line Using the Formula.”

Look for simple things that seem easy but don’t really do anything: I know a lot of math students who love to use simple examples – for example, to prove things such as that 2 + 2=4 or to show that the number 10 is a prime number. It doesn’t matter what you’re using – whether you write it out or just illustrate it – the lesson is the same: “This is so simple and yet it’s so hard!”
