I’m a sketching machine.
The good news is — I’ll tell you why:
You need to go in slow and draw every possible object. I think if you spend a week a day drawing, you’ll be able to make it look natural pretty fast.
But don’t despair if you can’t get perfect, I’m still doing the drawings on my phone. It’s just a shame I don’t have Photoshop for free.

The next step is to find the sketch book
Once you know the basics and have a good start sketching, you’ll soon see that drawing it in photoshop is quite a pain.
There are several free sketch book for students here on Smashing Magazine! The SketchBook project is still active as of April 2016, so check it out and if you like it, consider sharing this post!

It’s simple: find an easy-to-find book that features free-to-use drawings of objects in the real world.
In the image above, I’ve scrolled down to the “Molecules” section. Here are some examples of good books for beginners.
I recommend “Birds: the Story Behind the Art” — it’s an easy-to-find book about chickens in the wild.
Here’s a book called “How to Draw: A Beginner’s Guide” — perfect for beginners!
Now, you might assume that just about every book is the same, but they aren’t!
You might be disappointed, because I’m not talking about beginner books. It’s not even to say you shouldn’t start with beginner books, but I will give you some tips on where to find really good beginner books.

The most important part of a free-to-use sketchbook is finding the book.
Here’s how you can do it:
Get a list of
