You make a grid of two eyes and then you put on a light shade of paint and you just move it around, like you would a hand. That’s a way of drawing. When did you get started? How long do you keep up? Do you usually work on your sketches on Monday or Wednesday mornings? When was the last time you did a new sketch?
Yeah, I’ve been working a lot on sketches for a while now, I’m sure you’ve read this, but I’ve been doing most of my work at 2am when the studio is pretty empty.
I did that for at least 4 years. I’ll do it at 3am and then maybe 6pm when I’m awake in my apartment.
Any other hobbies other than just drawing?
I like art lessons and going to concerts sometimes. That’s how I’ve learned a bit about architecture as well – from architecture students.
If you could travel to any place, where would it be, and why?
If you could meet a specific artist who could help you out with your art, and how would that help, and if you could do an interview with that artist, could you maybe get a piece of art made with that artist’s influence?
Probably all of the above.
If art is your passion, what are some ways you’ve tried to push yourself to do that?
I’ve tried to do everything with my art; to not put down my tools, because my art is all about the medium of the medium. Sometimes I’ll use it and sometimes I’ll be doing it and my hands are tired. Sometimes my eyes aren’t good enough, I might not see every day, I’ll make a mistake. I haven’t put down my brush and ink well enough.
What was the last piece of work you were proud of?
I always finish work when I’m inspired. It’s always about my next drawing. My last piece was just a drawing of my daughter when we were together when she went to hospital. That was my last piece. It took me maybe 3 weeks to make it, and I was still very much trying to work out what I was doing. I was going to get done with it once I realised what I was doing.
You have really cool characters. What do you like about them?
I like the drawings that are very character driven. I love the feeling of character in there, the way they move, the way they
