Pole dancing is still a very young career on the national agenda. While many are trying to recruit students and help people transition from teaching to pole dance, an increasing number of organizations are now encouraging people to continue practicing traditional pole dance to develop skills in pole dancing like a dance instructor in the old days.

There is a big difference between dancers of different skill levels learning to perform and teaching a new skill.
“Dancers have much more skills than students learning traditional dance; they do more than learn the moves; they learn the technique of putting on the act. Dance is all about understanding your audience, and so dancers can learn a lot about dancing by learning their techniques and how to move with the audience,” says Chris Marnell, a pole dancer in Chicago.
“Dancing is very powerful because you need to know how to work with someone else and what’s needed and needed to perform with them. It’s a very powerful act,” Marnell says.
