Usually no. But it’s really not a big deal. I think it’s just an aesthetic thing. It might be fun to see someone dance on their toes, but most of us have pretty well made up toes.

I have a lot of favorite classes. But there is no one pole class that I think of most often.

So who should you teach pole dance classes to?


Do you see anyone coming into pole dancing, not being a pole dancer, not dancing on their toes, being an all-around bad dancer, or not dancing on their toes in general? What is the first rule to know about teaching?

Yes, there are some who say pole dance teachers just teach basic moves. There’s an even bigger group who say they do so for fun (or are there really?) and then just don’t teach anything different. And there’s the other group who say their pole dance classes are very structured with no free play and that they don’t have to dance on their toes! You may have heard of someone who says that all they really want to be known for is “paddle dancing.” I’ll give it to them.

I would say that a lot of pole dancers really don’t have a focus. The most popular dance form of choice in the world is probably swing. But really, most pole dancing class are also swing classes.

In other words, don’t think of pole dancing as ballet classes, don’t think of it as jazz classes. That would be silly. You can’t be that flexible and then also
