The different kinds of waltz, or “types”, are discussed below.

The Traditional Traditional traditional dance forms, called Waltz of the World, have been traditional dances for the vast majority of mankind since the dawn of history. When did this come about? According to folklore, this was at a time when the great god Odin, the warrior god, ruled the nations – a time when the warrior world of mankind was still struggling for survival. There were many tribes – one of them had a beautiful girl named Frigi. In the middle of winter, when everyone was gone on hunting trips, the girl was taken captive and sold to a great warrior. This young warrior offered the girl his hand in marriage, and she accepted with the most humble and tender of smiles. Then his heart took in the beautiful beauty. When the ceremony was done, he began to tell his story – he led the girl around as his wife, singing the songs. Her name was Frigga – fair-haired, fair-looking, beautiful young woman. Then he gave her clothes that allowed her to move at will and the ability to sing and dance – a special gift from Odin that would last the rest of her life. During the winter, Frigi went to the mountain tops – the place where the winter gods had set their camps – to meet with them. There, she had special dance lessons from the gods. Frigi performed throughout the lands – singing and dancing in all kinds of places, until on one fateful day, Frigga fell from a tree after being taken in by the gods. She fell on her death-bed. Then the gods gathered all the young warriors of all over the world and carried Frigga on a golden chariot through the land of the dead – the land of the living. Frigga became known as the first waltz. The waltz form was known as Old Norse and was a very special dance form. The first to dance by the way, was Frigga herself. They say that the first waltz to be performed on the dance floor, was performed on her birthday and that a song was sung about her. This is the type of waltz that most of the world knows today. The other type of waltz is the new waltz. The new waltz, called Wolde (Old Norse) or new-wold
